Blast from the past.
He was my Junior High School sweetheart and his name is Viko.
When I was thirteen, my Dad was transferred to Balikpapan so the family must move with him. It was awful, I hate the fact that I must move to a city I barely even know. I lived in Pertamina complex in this comfy house on top of a hill and from my back yards I can see both the ocean view and the mountain view. I studied in a Pertamina school called Patra Dharma 2 where kids like me whose parents are working in PNA, get to study there.
First day at school, all the kids were so nice to me. They came to my desk and shook hands, introduced themselves, very enthusiast to hear about my stories, they played with me, took me to lunch and everything. We are still good friends until now. Then one day my close friends, Debora and Efni told me that this senior wants to meet me and to be acquainted with me. I think to myself “yea why not, I wanna have as many friends as I could”. I remember the first day we met was in the cafeteria I was eating bakso and then Efni came to me and said “Dita, kenalin ini Viko”, I looked up and dayum he was cute. Not cute-cute, but cute-handsome-soooo good looking. Oh my gosh I remember him looked so much alike with Irvine Kinneas from Final Fantasy VIII, yes he was exactly that! Anyway, I shook his hand and that’s all.
And after that I started looking at him from afar. I was smitten, blushed, unable to speak or look at him when he’s near. I was thirteen and never felt like that before. This my early stage of being in love and damn I was cheesy. We started talking on the phone, shared common interests and then he asked me to…you know. I said yes.
Off-topic: can you believe that all of my ex-boyfriends and even my current boyfriend asked me to be their girlfriend over the phone?
Boyfriend #1: asked me over the phone because…seriously I’ve no idea, he could’ve asked me at school right?
Boyfriend #2 aka Viko: asked me over the phone because…seriously I’ve no idea, he could’ve asked me at school right?
Boyfriends #3: asked me over the phone because…we’re not at the same school and we’ve only met for like 8 days, so it was a take-a-chance moment for me too
Boyfriend #4 aka Monsie: asked me over the phone because…I was not allowed to meet him, my parents hated him and we’re planning to elope and drink poison and die in each other’s arms (just kidding!). Main thing was because my parents didn’t allow me to have a relationship with him because they thought Boyfriend #4 was the main cause of me and Boyfriends #3 to broke up.
Anyway, back to our story, we went out and I remember I was happy when I was with him, but not always. He’s a ladies man (wow, he’s fourteen and already a ladies man), I remember he had a close girl-friend who he considered a sister and I remember I fuckin hate the crap out of her because she’s always tailing him wherever he went. She pretend to show that she likes me but I know she didn’t, that bitch (this bitch moved to Jakarta, we met again on Facebook and she’s friends with my friends’ friends, small world innit?). One time, he went out with other girl, lie to me and I can’t believe how dumb I was back then. So my relationship with Viko sometimes was like a sinking ship that will never sink because I always forgive him at the end of the day. I don’t know whether I’m stupid or not. He once asked me “why are you so patient with me?”, can’t answer that but I guess in a way I’ve earned his love (damn this is so cheesy!)
I moved back to Jakarta when I was fifteen. There’s no break-up between us we just knew that this would not last. I have no pictures of us or him alone, I have no phone number, only his land line phone number that doesn’t seem to connect, I only have these memories of him and a diary that I once wrote, filled with stories of me and him. I’ve heard he moved to Malang, some say he’s married and has a kid. I want to track him down because I wanna know if he’s doing okay or not, that’s it. Last night I didn’t know why I dreamed of him but it was so vivid like it was his real voice talking to me, his face hasn’t changed at all. Well, let’s hope we can connect again and be good friends in the future.

Six more days!
So last Saturday I woke up early and went to my tailor and had my Kebaya fitting and it was lovely. It still has a few wobbly parts that the tailor must adjust but it’s a lovely Kebaya. What amazes me is that they can make a whole Kebaya complete with beads in just a week. Well, 1 ½ week but still it is amazing because normally it took about two to three weeks to make one Kebaya.
Since me and Mom already bought the Angsulan for Monsie (Angsulan means presents or gifts for the future groom as a gesture of gratitude for proposing the future bride, usually it comes in odd number, you can give three or five presents), it’s time to bought the Angsulan for myself! Monsie gave me a sum of money to be spent for the future bride’s Angsulan. I said to him “why don’t you give me money and then I’ll shop for myself, Mom will do the bargain” and he accepted.
1# Angsulan: Laces
We went to Mayestik market and went straight to “de Majestic” where the French laces live and breathe hihi, my hand straightly picked out this beautiful yellow canary color laces I fell in love with. Not quite canary though, it’s a bit brighter than canary but sooooo beautiful. After all, it is a yellow wedding, right?
After we got the Laces, we went to La Moda to find a flowery pattern fabric to be made into Kebaya (Javanese bride wears a flowery pattern Kebaya after the Siraman) and then there it was, a chunk of beautiful bright yellow satin fabrics for my bridesmaids, sitting in the dark covered by other fabrics. I have found them. I have 19 bridesmaids in total multiple 3 meters each so I will need 57 meters of fabrics in total. Guess how many meters that chunk has? 58 meters! It is destiny, meant to be, fate! That fabrics have been created for my bridesmaids and for my bridesmaids only! Thank God!
2# Angsulan: Batik
Went to this big batik store in front of Starbucks Melawai but the price is insanely expensive! So we went to Sundjoyo, I think it’s a family owned company who has run their business since a long time ago. They have the most beautiful Batik tulis ever. I just found out that each Batik pattern must be used for a specific event, such as A pattern Batik must be used for siraman only and B pattern Batik must be used for the reception etc etc. Mom went nuts for the Batik and she bought a couple of old beautiful ones for herself. Mmmm, okay Mom.
3# Angsulan: Slipper
Paulista slipper is the best Kebaya slipper so I picked out their classic model with cream color that looks so good on my feet. Slipper: check!
4# Angsulan: Kaftan
Found a simple but gorgeous broken white colored Kaftan. It is perfect.
5# Angsulan: Mukena set
Monsie’s Mom would find the Mukena set for me
So there it goes, my journey to find the Angsulan, it was fun spending other people’s money just for yourself, hihihi kidding Monsie

Eleven more days!
Mom called his family and his family were okay with it so let’s get the party started!
Since it’s going to be held in Bandung I called my bestie Cipoth because she knows all of the good stuffs including the catering, the tent, the chairs, the photographer and so on. Mom went to Bandung to took care of them all and they all fixed, thank God! Menu for the catering? I trust my Mom she has good taste. The tent? It’s gonna be a mixture of white and baby pink. The chairs all good and currently I’m having a deal with the photographer. All good man, all good. Ups not yet, I miss the make-up and hair do, will follow up by the end of this week.
I already bought the laces for the kebaya so it’s no biggie. We went to Fadhlan yesterday and when we got there it’s already closed. The store assistant called Pak Fadhlan and so kind of him to come back to the store and to do my measures and design my kebaya. I am so happy with the design. One thing I learned from all these, God is always helping me when I need Him.
And all of my closest friends and families will be there. It’s gonna be perfect, hopefully.

The colors ♧
The guest receptionists:
I picked this lovely baby blue colors because my brother's friends are the ones who will wear them and I want them to be fresh and beautiful.

The Usherettes:
Mom's friends will be the Usherettes and there's 30 of them! Since the decoration will be yellow, I picked this beautiful yellowish gold.

Family:
Mom's fell in love with this color so I can't argue with that. It is for the primary family members that will walk behind bride and groom during the reception.

I haven't buy the bridesmaids dress yet but I already have in mind what yellow color I should get. My bridesmaids are going to be stunningly beautiful.
As for the bride, you'll have to wait and see ☺
Talk about different topic, next Thursday is gonna be my birthday and I already bought myself an early birthday present
I totally fell in love with it ♡

Next step:
Went to pasar Mayestik last Saturday and in this store called de Majestic, it has the most beautiful, most complete collection of French laces.
When we entered the store, there's this old Indian man suddenly talked to my Mom “I dreamed of you last night wearing the same Batik, you bought beautiful laces and I know which ones”
We went to the second floor where all the beautiful laces live and breathe. My Mom and I were aiming to find a pinkish-purple-y color for us, but it is soooo hard to find. Then the old Indian man handed this beautiful color to us and said “this is the color you’ve been looking for, I knew it”. It was sooo beautiful and lighten up my skin. My Mom said it is the color “jambon”, even I don’t understand that word. Too bad the lace is only enough to make one kebaya so Mom has to find a similar color, one color darker or brighter.
The proposal event will be held at Bandung and I’m inviting all of my bridesmaids who can attend, it’s gonna be held at noon so we can have some girls night out later on. Mom already written the opening speech and the agenda, she even already bought this flower centerpiece and sent it to Bandung. My only homework is to find the caterer, the photographer and the rings. Yes, the rings. So it’s not gonna be just a proposal from the groom’s family but also an engagement to tie us both. A “peningset” in Javanese. A Javanese engagement means the future bride and groom must have their wedding held no later than a year since the engagement day. I’m hoping it will be on March so (maybe) I can produce beautiful Taurus babies in May. I love Taurus people, they’re delightful!
So now, I can only pray that God will allow this plan to actually happen. Amin.

Rollercoasters.
Do you know the phrase, “people can make plans, but God shall decide”? that phrase really stab me in the heart. Here’s why: On my previous post, I share my plans about getting married in September this year. Well, that’s not gonna happen. Of course there’s a reason! Mom and Dad are building a house in the backyard for me and future hubby so that we can stay close to each other, it’s halfway done, but then Dad suddenly decides that my current home (my parents’ house) will also be renovated just like the new house in the backyard. My parents intend to leave the house to my brother in good shape, just to make it fair. So, renovating two houses are gonna take longer than the original timeline, which means another delay in my wedding. As a Javanese, my Mother strictly said that she want the Akad to be held at home (first born must have their Akad at home). And I for once tried very hard not to be stubborn and think logically. I actually agree with my Mom. I can only pray God will give me the best, and I bet he will.

First day at the new office, I gotta say I’m the prettiest one in the Project Finance room cause all of them are males. My superior is Morimoto san, he is goofy and funny and sooo smart. And my comrades are Saito san, Mr. Lee (doesn’t use “san” cause he’s Korean) and Mas Reza. I know I will learn lots of new things in here.
I got massive PHE homesick the first week I got to DSLNG, and surprisingly, my PHE comrades sent a package to the new office, and it is packed with love. They got me this bright blue Swatch watch and this big pictures of all of them together with carrying a picture of me in the center. They’re all there, even my manager whom I truly miss. I got the best boss in the world.
Third rollercoaster, this one a nice one: Valentine’s day. I always knew that Monsie is not romantic. So NOT romantic. Well, this time I was wrong. One morning I was doing my thing at work then the security came to me and said “there’s a flower bouquet for you” I was like wuut. I asked the florist about who sent them, he said “just some mysterious guy”, I knew it was Monsie! We met at lunch and all I could get him was this heart-shaped candy with “I love U” writing on it. Guess I’m the one who’s not romantic. Monsie did not happy about the candy because last year I gave him a candy too. Dohh.
Monsie's face when we met at lunch, but more good-looking than Andrew McCarthy
Fourth rollercoaster, my favorite one. Guess what? I’m having a GALA DINNER with L’ARC~EN~CIEL! What uppppp! I seriously can’t wait!

Seriously can't wait!

Can you guess what movie? #2

I seriously don't get this movie. It makes no sense to me.

I loveeeee this movie, I love all the songs in it! The characters are weird and quirky, especially Mr. Frank-N-Furter the sweet transvestite. Also, Susan Sarandon did a very good job in singing this song, it's my favorite song in the movie!

This is a great 90s movie, mostly about the self-narrated scenes and the music. The soundtrack is dope!

Impossible if you did not know this.

Even though I never watch the series, I fell in love with the movie instantly. To me, having a trip to Europe right after you graduate and be adventurous and fell in love with your bestfriend is something I really enjoy watching over and over again. I think Disney accidentally steal the idea for the Monte Carlo movie from this movie. Also, great soundtrack.
Watched this movie in Brisbane, in my tiny room in Manors apartment. Can't really understand what those girls really think when they commit suicides. Perhaps because of their over-protected parents.
Watched this movie a gazillion times in my room in Maryvale, Brisbane. I love the British humor, the accent, the friendship among pack and of course, Hugh Grant's handsome youth.

Like most girls, I love mysterious man, the one exactly like Mr. Darcy. It seems that he's rude and didn't seem to care, the fact is he actually care and so in love with Elizabeth Bennet. My favorite scene was this one right here, the sun in the background is just perfect. Favorite line: "You have bewitched me, body and soul" by Mr. Darcy.

This K-movie here is the best. I remember crying so hard in my room, under the blanket, in the dark when I watched it. The movie could make you smile and then make you cry like a baby. You can actually feel how much the guy loves the girl, you can feel it so hard it hurts. Recommended this movie to a couple of friends and they all cry like babies, just like I did.

It's no Disney, it's a film by Don Bluth who creates An American Tail, but this movie is as good as any Disney movie, sometimes even better. I love the song between Thumbelina and Cornelius, love it so much I put it in my wedding playlist.

Do you remember when you're in High School and you have a crush and you think he doesn't even know you're exist and suddenly he has a crush on you too?

Well, this movie is exactly that!

This movie is also about your High School crush is in fact loves you back! Then he pick you up right after your sister's wedding, drive you in his awesome red car, all of the sudden you're both sitting on the table, making birthday wishlist and have a beautiful first kiss. I think that's every girls's dream.

Now every time I hear "Twist and Shout" I remember this movie instantly.
Nighty night fellas ♡
