The date is set!

Guess what? I didn't get the date. Fact is, there's this couple that have paid the upfront fee since August this year! Yes, for November next year! My Mom then asked the man in charged for the bookings in Balai Sudirman and he said that there's an opening for Saturday night the 8th of December and it is locked girls and boys! It is on! The show is on the road!

I always love the number 8, it's round and has no end, limitless, endless, and it's the same number that my Mom and Dad got married, on the 8th of March to be precised.

Keribetan selanjutnya adalah, how exactly to tell my Dad that me and Mom (well basically Mom) has paid the upfront fee without any ba bi bu to my Dad. So when I got home and eat with my parents, my face was dead froze when Mom suddenly said "eh udah DP lhoo buat tanggal 8 Desember di Balai Sudirman", I was like "vvvvvvhaattt" langsung pura-pura sibuk makan ga berani liat muka Bokap.

I think I heard him humming "hmmm".

As for my boyfriend who also didn't know a single thing about the venue booking, went for the usual "oh bagus deh udah dapet tanggal, tapi gapapa tuh bukan tanggal 10 November? itu yang kamu mau bukan?" then I said "shush udah bagus dapet, Alhamdu~lillaah"
Thank God he's not panicking like Chandler when he found out that Monica has booked a wedding venue without his consent.

On with the story: I just found out that when you booked a venue in Balai Sudirman, you have to use the service of its partner vendors, that includes the catering, decoration and photographer. So when I look at the list, I'm thrilled because all the vendors that I initially wanted were all there, yippie!

But that moment of happiness didn't stay long, a drama is about to happen. One day in a sunny afternoon, I was in a meeting discussing PetroChina's authorization approval guidelines with my internal fellow office mates, Mom called, I went outside and started the convo "Sup' Mom?" then she went babbling nuts about the wedding package that is provided by Balai Sudirman "Dita tau ga di Balai Sudirman ada paket wedding, yang gold gini-gini-gini dapet LCD TV dua bla-bla trus ada grand piano etc etc etc kita juga dapet WO dan wedding singer lho lalala"

I sense the force is weak in this one. Sumthing's not right. Sumpah sehari sebelumnya Nyokap baru bilang kalo pake jasa WO itu hasilnya ga semaksimal kalau kita yang ngerjain sendiri, itu juga dari referensi temen-temennya, hence diputuskan ga pake jasa WO, but now she said things like this, I was like whaaat seriously Mooommm.

I quickly snapped her from talking "bentar-bentar, berarti kalau paket gitu kan harus pake vendor-vendor tertentu kan? ga semua yang di list bisa dipake?" "yaiya dong tapi kita lebih gampang blablabla", suara mulai meninggi, I moved the convo to the emergency staircase. My mom started to push me to use the package instead. I started yelling "jangan terbuai harga murah deh belum tentu bagus, percuma kalo penyanyinya nyanyi lagu-lagu jelek atau makanannya ga enak! Aku udah nurut pake vendor-nya Balai Sudirman dan sekarang kaya gini???!"

I started naming the vendors "aku mau vendor A buat catering! aku mau vendor B buat dekorasinya!" Don't actually care yelling at my Mom because it's my wedding, MY dream wedding, MY once in a lifetime wedding (amin!), my Mom could be Kris Jenner sometimes, only care about what she wants. Grrrr. My tears started to fall, she hung up on me, I swiped the tears from my eyes, put on fake smile and got back to the meeting. Dayum.

Oh the drama.

But I am proud to say that I am damn RIGHT. Talked to Amoth the other day, my friend slash wedding specialist. She said that the package sometimes could be manipulative, semuanya udah masuk paket standard jadi ga maksimal dan bisa jadi akhirnya malah harus nambah-nambah biaya ga terduga. Texted my Mom about it and finally I can sleep well at night.

Next day Mom texted me that she called those vendors that I want and she said we should meet with them sometimes, talk about price and everything.
